An Apopka man was killed on Thursday morning after he attempted to pass a vehicle in a no passing zone, lost control of his vehicle, and struck multiple objects before overturning.

The fatal accident took place near the intersection of Clarcona Road and Old Apopka Road at around 6:08 a.m. on February 16.

According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, the man was traveling southbound on Clarcona Road in a 2017 Chevrolet Tahoe.

As the vehicle approached Old Apopka Road, the driver attempted to pass another vehicle in a no passing zone.

The Tahoe entered the northbound lane, lost control, and struck a curb. The driver overcorrected the vehicle and ran off the right side of the roadway.

The SUV then struck a tree and a light pole before it overturned onto its roof.

The man was transported to AdventHealth Apopka Hosital, where he was pronounced deceased.
