Robert Leroy Doud (76) of Orlando, Orange County, Florida, died on February 13, 2023. He was born in Miami, Florida at Jackson Memorial Hospital on July 11, 1946. Bob spent his early childhood in Erie, Pennsylvania.
His love of working with his hands started at a young age when he helped his father build the family home. Bob attended Brookside Elementary School until the third grade when his family moved back to Miami as his father worked for Eastern Airlines. Bob attended Miami Springs Junior High School and Hialeah Senior High School. Bob graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 1968 where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering. He worked for Martin Marietta (now Lockheed Martin) as an engineer on aeronautical, space, and aerospace and defense projects in quality control; he retired after 45 years.
While he died after a short battle with liver cancer and end stage kidney disease, Bob never stopped singing. His heart was full and strong until the end.
He is survived by his loving wife Mary Ellen Huston Doud, who he met in Denver, Colorado, their three children, Laura, Kimberly, and Robert, and their four grandchildren, Alexander, Mackenzie, James, and Thomas. He loved his family deeply and was very proud of them. Bob was a follower of Jesus Christ through the Methodist Church. His parents, Robert and Barbara Doud, preceded him in death as did his brother, James W. Doud. Bob will be buried in Emlenton, Pennsylvania during a small graveside service in the Spring.
