Orlando man killed after leaving SR 417 at ‘high rate of speed’

A 36-year-old Orlando man was killed early Sunday morning after his vehicle left State Road 417 and struck a guardrail at a high rate of speed.

According to a report by the Florida Highway Patrol, the fatal accident took place around 2:55 a.m. on northbound SR 417, just south of Aloma Avenue in Oviedo.

The man was driving his Toyota Camry northbound on SR 417 at a high rate of speed, approaching a curve south of Aloma Avenue, when he lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle departed the roadway and struck a guardrail as a result.

The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene and the raodway was closed for approximately six hours while authorities investigated the accident.
