A 21-year-old man has turned himself into authorities after allegedly shooting his girlfriend during a dispute at a DeBary park.
Caleb Padgett, who turned 21 years old on Saturday, turned himself him on Tuesday, February 28, to Volusia County Sheriff’s Office authorities in connection with a shooting incident that took place on Monday.
According to authorities, Padgett was arguing with his girlfriend in the parking lot of Memorial Park, which is located at 74 Dirksen Drive in DeBary, at around 11:30 a.m. on Monday, February 27.
During the argument, Padgett allegedly shot his girlfriend before fleeing the scene.
Detectives searched the area for hours and eventually issued a public alert for assistance in locating Padgett.
Padgett eventually turned himself in approximately 24 hours after the incident.
His girlfriend was transported to a local hospital for treatment and is expected to make a full recovery.
Padgett faces charges of aggravated battery with a firearm, armed robbery, and tampering with a victim. He is currently being held at the Volusia County Jail.
