Douglas Austin Atkinson

Douglas Austin Atkinson, Sr., age 79 of Sanford, Florida, passed away March 4, 2023. He was born March 16, 1943 in Teachey, North Carolina, the son of the late George Norwood and Pauline (Grady) Atkinson.

Prior to his retirement he served his country proudly with the United States Navy. Mr. Atkinson was a manager for Farmers Furniture Store, in Sanford.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Helen Atkinson, three children Kimberly (David) Hilliard, Douglas (Earline) Atkinson, Jr., and Karen Rex; brother Sam (Jean) Atkinson, two sisters Jeanette (Ken) Raper, and Linda Sue Acey. Mr. Atkinson is also survived by six grandchildren Melissa (Bill) Serritella, Ashlee (Keith) Walker, Nicholas (Elizabeth) Coggon, Micah Coggon, Joshua (Ashley) Atkinson, and Christopher (Adela) Atkinson; eight great grandchildren Jonathan, Gunnar, Enzo, Gemma, Ruby, Hayden, Joshua Jr., and Bentley.

The family will receive friends on Friday, March 10, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Collison-Gramkow Funeral Home. A graveside service with military honors will follow at 1:30 PM at Sylvan Lake Cemetery.
