Richard A. Duncan

Richard A. Duncan, passed away on March 5, 2023, at the age of 82, and is now at peace after suffering from a battle with cancer and pulmonary fibrosis.
Survived by his wife Tommie, of 62 years; a daughter, a son, six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; “Dickey” was born on February 11th, 1941, in Roanoke, Virginia, and was one of five children born to Clifton Duncan and Sally Cress.
Richard, a Vietnam veteran, was awarded the Airman’s Metal for distinguished heroism, while stationed at Nakhom Phanom Royal Thai Air Force Base, on July 25 1966. In addition, Richard earned the Meritorious Service Medal, the Air Force Commendation Metal, along with other awards, during his Air Force firefighting career, while ultimately achieving the rank of Chief Master Sargent.
After retirement from the Air Force, Richard pursued civil service, where he achieved his most treasured career ambition, Fire Chief of the United States Air Force Academy.
Richard asked that a big, Thank You, be conveyed, for all of the support and friendships he cherished throughout his lifetime.
