Three teenagers were injured during a drive-by shooting that took place outside of a theater at Waterford Lakes Town Center over the weekend.
Orange County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 400 block of North Alafaya Trail on Saturday, March 11, at around 7:52 p.m. after receiving reports of a shooting.
Upon arrival, police found a group of teens that were shot at while they were hanging out behind buildings at the Waterford Lakes Town Center, just north of the movie theater.
According to authorities, the victims were shot at from a moving vehicle that fled the scene.
The three individuals shot included a 14-year-old girl, as well as two males ages 15 and 19. Police say all are expected to recover from their injuries.
According to a statement issued by OCSO on Monday, during their investigation, detectives learned that there was a verbal altercation between a group of people and the victims prior to the shooting. One of the victims in the case has refused to cooperate with law enforcement. The other two victims and multiple witnesses on the scene have provided very limited information on the actions that led up to the shooting.
As of Monday afternoon, police have not yet received photos or video of the suspect vehicle.
