An Orlando man was killed and a woman was seriously injured after their vehicle was struck by a semi-truck in Osceola County on Wednesday afternoon.
According a preliminary report from the Florida Highway Patrol, the fatal accident took place at approximately 3:46 p.m. at the intersection of Osceola Polk Line Road and Old Lake Wilson Road in Davenport.
The crash involved a 2022 Ford F-150 and a 1996 semi-truck with trailer. Evidence shows that the pickup truck was traveling northbound on Old Lake Wilson Road, approaching the intersection of Osceola Polk Line Road.
The driver, a 59-year-old man, attempted to make a left turn to travel westbound on Osceola Polk Line Road and traveled into the direct path of the semi-truck. As a result, the front of the semi-truck struck the left side of the pickup.
The pickup truck driver was pronounced deceased on the scene. His passenger, a 37-year-old woman from Lake Mary, was transported to the Osceola Regional Hospital in serious condition.
Traffic homicide investigators are currently working to identify the occupants of the pickup truck.
The driver of the semi-truck, a 31-year-old man from Hialeah, was not injured in the crash and remained on scene.
As of 5:30 p.m., there was a roadblock in place at the intersection.
