Joseph A. Wallace

Joseph Anthony Wallace Sr., 79, from the city of Portsmouth, in the island country of Dominica, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at Cornerstone Hospice in Orlando, Florida. Joseph was born on August 11, 1943, in the small Caribbean island of Dominica. He is the son of the late Hamilton and Virginia Alexis. Joseph was the husband of 51 years to Fleria “Helena” Wallace.

Joseph was a supervisor at a large oil refinery as well as a successful businessman for many years in St. Croix, VI. He was a very hardworking man and a devoted husband, father, and friend. He enjoyed playing cards, playing dominos, and keeping up with current events. Everyone who knew Joseph would tell you he was a helpful person and a friend you could always count on. He will be truly missed by all.

Besides his loving wife, Helena, he is survived by six children: Calvin Wallace of Antigua, Debra DeRiggs of Orlando, FL, Karen Stevenson of Orlando, FL, Lisa Wallace-Sonson (and son-in-law Peter Sonson) of Orlando, FL, Germain Whyte (and son-in-law Barry Whyte) of St. Croix, VI, and Joseph Wallace Jr. (and daughter-in-law Ronelle Wallace) of Atlanta, GA; two stepdaughters: Gina Francis of Harvest, AL, and Monica Vaughan of Orlando, FL; eleven grandchildren: Vidal Wallace of Orlando, FL, Kareem Garriga of Harvest, AL, Devon Sonson of Orlando, FL, Elsworth Stevenson II of Orlando, FL, Kayla-Brianna Stevenson, of Orlando, FL, Daniel Viera of Harvest, AL, Brandon Vaughan of Orlando, FL, Gerbarry Whyte of St. Croix, VI, Joseph Antoine Wallace, III of Atlanta, GA, Jazlyn Wallace of Atlanta, GA, and Jaelyn Wallace of Atlanta, GA; three sisters: Theresa Joseph of Antigua, Elizabeth Harris of Antigua, and Bernadine Ryan of Dominica; one brother: Colbon Panthier of Dominica; and many loving nieces and nephews.

The family will receive relatives and friends for a post-cremation memorial service from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at Winter Oak Funeral Home, 1132 E. Plant Street, Winter Garden, FL 34787. The Service will be held at Winter Oak Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. Service will be live on Winter Oak Funeral Home Facebook page beginning at 2:00 pm.
