A 40-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a shooting at a Sonic drive-thru on International Drive in Orlando that left a teenager injured from a gunshot.
On Wednesday, March 15, the Orlando Police Department announced that it arrested Albert Jason Cortes, Jr. in connection with a shooting that took place last week.
During that incident that took place on Wednesday, March 8, Orlando Police Department west patrol officers responded to reports of a shooting at the Sonic fast food restaurant located at 5399 International Drive.
Upon arrival, officers made contact with a female teenage victim who had been shot. The victim was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center and is in stable condition as of this writing.
“Thanks to the collaborative efforts of the International Drive Bike Unit, Violent Crimes Investigations Unit and Fugitive Investigations Unit, the suspect has been identified and apprehended,” reads a statement from OPD.
Cortes, who is from Eustis, was arrested without incident and has been charged with aggravated battery with a firearm. Court records show that he was scheduled to make his first appearance in court on Wednesday.
