One killed, three injured after multi-vehicle crash in Volusia

A man was killed and three Sanford residents were injured after a three-vehicle crash in Volusia County.

The fatal accident took place near the intersection of State Road 415 and Osceola Tram Road on Monday, March 20 at around 4:22 p.m.

According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, a 66-year-old Sanford man was driving his 2023 Nissan Rogue southbound on State Road 415, approaching Osceola Tram Road. The vehicle partially entered the northbound lane, directly in the path of a 2005 Ford F-150 being driven by a man.

As a result, the two vehicles struck each other head-n, causing the pickup truck to rotate and enter the southbound lane in the direct path of a 2020 Ford F-350 with a trailer.

The front of the pickup with the trailer struck the left side of the other pickup truck, causing it to run off the roadway, overturn, and then become engulfed in flames.

The driver of the Nissan, as well as two Sanford residents in the Ford F-350 were all taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the F-150, who has not been identified by police, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
