Kissimmee man misses $2.04 billion jackpot by one number

A Kissimmee man claimed a $1 million prize from a Florida lottery POWERBALL drawing held in November, missing the $2.04 billion jackpot by just one number.

Carlos Del Valle, 46, claimed the prize at the Lottery’s Orlando District Office recently, according to a statement issued by the Florida Lottery on Wednesday, March 22.

Del Valle’s ticket matched the five winning numbers that were drawn on November 7, 2022, but did not match the POWERBALL. The five winning numbers were 10, 33, 41, 47, and 56, and the POWERBALL was 10.

Del Valle’s ticket chose 17 as the POWERBALL number. His winning ticket did have the correct POWERBALL chosen for a separate entry, however.

Del Valle purchased his winning ticket from Sunshine, located at 1277 West Hillsboro Boulevard in Deerfield Beach. The retailer will receive a $1,000 bonus commission for selling the winning ticket.

Since Florida joined POWERBALL in 2009, the game has generated more than $2.65 billion in contributions to statewide education. Among the top-selling POWERBALL states in the country, Florida has sold more than 120,000,000 winning tickets totaling more than $3.5 billion in prizes, including 16 jackpot winners.
