JSTJOUR 150x150 1

James St Jour, 25, of Orlando, died March 21 after a two-year battle with a reoccurrence of nasopharyngeal cancer. He was born May 31, 1997, in Port au Prince, Haiti and moved to Orlando when he was six years old. James attended Jones High School, where he played on the baseball team, and graduated in 2017. After graduation, James attended Valencia Community College and began pursuing a music career.

James had a way of drawing people in with his smile the moment he met them. He was kind, open, humble, positive, empathetic, strong, funny, and creative. James endured countless doctors’ appointments, chemotherapy infusions, surgeries, hospital and ICU stays, and radiation treatments in his young life. Despite being at his worst medically, James stayed hopeful and positive through extreme difficulties and still found a way to bring laughter and joy to those around him.

James, also known as “Sljm” in the local hip-hop scene, began writing and performing music as a high school student. Before his cancer diagnosis in March of 2021, James would perform at open mic nights throughout Orlando and spend time perfecting his craft in the studio. He also wrote several songs during his medical journey. To listen to James’ music and watch his videos, check out: youtube.com/@sljm8192.
