Bernard Barney Gentry 1681241185

Bernard Gentry, age 54 of Longwood, Florida was a devoted father, friend, and mentor. He was born in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba and grew up in Key West, Florida. He graduated from Key West High School as valedictorian. He continued his education with a bachelors from Florida State University. He followed that with a Juris Doctorate also from Florida State University. He practiced law for 27 years and faced the challenges of the job with humor and diligence.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Kelly R Gentry; his three children Alexander R. Gentry, William R. Gentry, and Kai Gentry; his mother, Joan Gentry; his 3 sisters, Cheryl Malsheimer, Kathy Clark (Rick) and Rebecca Broyles (Donald); his nieces and nephews; his great-nieces and great-nephews; and his three Godchildren, Adrienne, Leah, and Michael.

Barney was generous with his time, talent and treasure. He was a Hockey, Girl Scouts, and Soccer Dad. He was a parishioner at Annunciation Catholic Church. He was a member of the Florida Bar and Knights of Columbus, plus other organizations throughout the years.

He had a very well-developed sense of humor that he used to cope with the stresses of everyday life and to welcome others into his circle. Barney was an avid sports fan of the Florida State Seminoles, Tampa Bay Lightning, Rays, Buccaneers, Cincinnati Reds, Newcastle United, Orlando City and to his wife’s objections, Miami Dolphins.

Most importantly, he was a good Dad, husband, brother, {gr}uncle, and friend. He will be dearly missed.
