Man struck and killed crossing University Boulevard

Police have released video showing the moments before and after a pedestrian was struck and killed on University Boulevard in hopes of identifying the responsible vehicle.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the fatal accident took place near the intersection of University Boulevard and Goldenrod Road on April 3 at around 11:17 p.m.

A 39-year-old Orlando man was walking in a southerly direction across the eastbound lanes of University Boulevard. According to authorities, the man was not in a marked crosswalk when he entered the direct path of a vehicle.

The left front of the vehicle struck the man and fled the scene after the collision. The man was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Video provided by FHP shows a dark figure walking across the street as several cars drive down the road.

During the ensuing investigation, traffic homicide detectives located a car part at the scene for a vehicle that they believe was responsible for the collision. That part was part of the undercarriage of a dark blue Toyota Camry between model years 2014 to 2017.
