A bomb threat that was made at a DeLand church on Sunday was deemed a hoax by local police.
Volusia County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the LifePoint Community Church (1747 New York Avenue) on Sunday, April 16, at around 10:42 a.m. after receiving reports of a bomb threat.
At the time of the threat, the church was in between services and an orderly evacuation of all churchgoers was conducted.
The building was swept through by VCSO K-9 teams and around 12:30 p.m., the church was cleared and the call was deemed a hoax.
The sheriff’s office says detectives will follow up on the incident and no further information was provided.
