Separate vehicle fires break out on I-4

A box truck and an SUV both caught fire in separate incidents on Interstate 4 this past weekend.

On Sunday, April 16, Seminole County Fire Department crews responded to reports of a vehicle fire in Altamonte Springs, near mile marker 93 of I-4. Upon arrival, crews encountered an SUV that was fully engulfed in flames. The fire was quickly extinguished and no injuries were reported.

Later that same evening, units from the Seminole County Fire Department, Orange County Fire Rescue, and Maitland Fire Rescue responded to the I-4 Express Lanes near mile marker 89 after receiving reports of a vehicle fire around 6:11 p.m.

According to authorities, the engine compartment of a box truck caught fire for unknown reasons. The fire was extinguished and the driver was evaluated for smoke inhalation. No injuries were reported as a result of the blaze.
