A 30-year-old man has been extradited to Florida for issuing online threats to kill Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood .

Tyler Meyer, who was arrested on March 31 by the San Diego Police Department, arrived in Florida on Friday, April 21 in connection with threats he made about Sheriff Mike Chitwood through 4chan.

According to police, Meyer made an anonymous post that was eventually flagged by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and traced to his IP address. The threat read as follows:

“It’s too bad Mike Chitwood isn’t safe now that I’m planning to kill him. I’m going to shoot Mike Chitwood. I’m going to kill him by shooting him to death.”

Local police in San Diego made contact with Meyer at his mother’s home and, during a search of his room, uncovered multiple firearms, ammunition, and electronics. Meyer was initially hesitant to admit to posting the threat before he was shown a picture of the post and admitted that he had written it.

On Friday, Sheriff Chitwood greeted Meyer upon his arrival in Florida.

“I’m Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood. Welcome to Volusia County, Florida. Enjoy your stay,” said Chitwood.

Meyer’s extradition follows two similar cases that have both resulted in arrests for the same charge.

Last week, 23-year-old Cristhian Zapata was arrested for posting a death threat against the sheriff, saying in part, “I WILL KILL CHITWOOD.” In February, 38-year-old Richard Golden was arrested for similar statements. In posts on the same website, Golden said that Chitwood would “stop being a problem” if someone were to “shoot Chitwood in the head.”

Golden, who was living in New Jersey at the time he made the comments, was arrested on March 13 and extradited to Florida on March 27.
