A 57-year-old Orlando man was killed this morning after he crashed head-on into a garbage truck on State Roda 436.
The fatal accident took place on Tuesday, May 2, at around 5:21 a.m., according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.
A 51-year-old Apopka man was driving a 2022 Mack garbage truck southbound on Sheeler Avenue, approaching SR 436/Semoran Boulevard in the left turn lane. As the driver attempted to make a left turn to travel eastbound on SR 436.
As he entered the intersection, he struck the front of a 1986 Yamaha XV1100 that was traveling northbound on Sheeler Avenue at the same time. After the head-on collision, the motorcyclist was transported to AdventHealth Apopka Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
The Apopka man was not injured in the crash and remained at the scene.
Traffic investigators are still trying to determine which vehicle had the green traffic light, according to a press release from the Florida Highway Patrol.
