Patricia Ann Mello

Patricia Townsend Smith Mello of Orlando, FL, age 82, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 09, 2023. She was born on February 28, 1941 in Bluff City, TN to the late George and Novella Townsend. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Fran Mello and her son, Tim Smith.

She worked for Raytheon Corporation in Bristol, Tn for 16 years before moving to Orlando, Fl in 1982. She continued her career there at Control Laser Corp before retiring in 2002. During her time at Raytheon Corp, she often worked several other jobs in order to provide for her children including time at the Windsor restaurant in Bristol, Tn where she served many of the famous race car drivers of the day.

Patty was always known as a fun and vibrant person and was a strong and independent woman who loved and took care of her family. She had a servant’s heart and helped and loved all who knew her. All were always welcome in her home and everyone knew to make themselves at home when visiting. Her passion was working in her flower gardens and it gave her more joy than anything besides her children and her family. She was a Christian woman who loved the Lord and set a good example for all her knew her.
Left to cherish Patty’s memory is her sister, Evelyn Jenkins and husband Whitey, her brother Gary Townsend; her children, Tom Smith and wife Nancy, Tamara Proffitt and husband, Ralph; her step-children, Gary Mello and wife Pam, Frannie Mello and wife Lucy, Sharon Desmarias and husband Dan; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

There will be a Memorial Service on Saturday, May 20, 2023 time 11:00 a.m. at West Orange Christian Church (7325 Conroy Windermere Rd, Orlando, FL 32835).
