Kathy Baron

Kathy Baron, 74, Longwood, Florida passed away peacefully on Friday, May 12, 2023, with her daughter by her side. Ms. Baron was born in 1948 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Louis & Mollie (Stachel) Baron. She was a New Yorker at heart, and proud graduate of James Madison High School, where she met dear lifelong friends. Her free spirit took her to Indiana, Illinois, Israel, Texas, and Colorado; she found home again in Florida, in a community filled with familiarity, friends and kindred spirits.

Ms. Baron was a doting mother and grandmother. She was a hard worker and loyal employee, and she was at her best as a caregiver and nurturer to others. When it was needed most, she devoted her time and attention to her grandchildren, caring for them, and sharing laughter, and a passion for music, crafts, pets, and cooking with them.

Ms. Baron is survived by her devoted daughter, Leah (Andrew) van Zelm of Orlando, Florida; brothers, Bruce (Alice) Baron of Denver, Colorado and Fred (Sharon) Baron of Plano, Texas; beloved grandchildren, Zoe van Zelm and Quinn van Zelm both of Orlando, Florida. She is preceded in death by her brother Bill (Elinor) Baron.

In keeping with Ms. Baron’s wishes, she will be cremated and a memorial for her will be held Sunday, May 21, 2023 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Beth Shalom Memorial Chapel (835 Lee Road, Orlando) with Rabbi Arnold Siegel of Jewish Family Services officiating. May she rest in peace and may her sense of adventure live on.
