Julius Charles Barati Jr.

Julius Charles Barati, Jr. passed away May 5, 2023, peacefully at home. He was born in Portland, Me. September 6, 1939 to Julius Barati, Sr. and Cecilia Feiertag Barati.

He moved to Schenectady, N.Y. and after graduating from Draper High School joined the Coast Guard. While in the Coast Guard Jack was stationed at several posts including Norfolk, Va. and New Orleans, La. After leaving the service, Jack moved to Florida in 1966.

He worked most of his life as a vending mechanic first with Wometco and then Lockheed Martin in the cafeteria section. He was a do-it-yourselfer, building the addition to his house himself as well as fixing whatever needed to be repaired. Jack was a proud 50 year man with the Boy Scouts of America. He was a scout himself as a boy and later became an adult leader in Cub Scouts, then in Boy Scouts. He simultaneously worked as an adult leader trainer for many years, earning the Silver Beaver Award for his efforts. In addition to Scouts, Jack was involved at various times in the U S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Princeton Little League and the Mid-Florida Milers Volksmarch Club. His favorite pastime was watching any sport in which his grandchildren played.

Jack is survived by his wife of 56 years Barbara, three sons Joe (Bridgett), Jeff (Amy) and Jamie (Sage), four grandchildren Mitch, Jasmine, Reef and Kaia.

Interment will be at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Mims on May 24 at 12:30 p.m.
