Detectives are currently investigating an altercation in DeLand that left a 23-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds.
According to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, the incident took place around 6 p.m. on Monday, May 15 in Lenox Court.
Witnesses reported that the 23-year-old man was involved in a verbal argument with another individual before a shooting took place.
Upon arrival, VCSO deputies, along with crews from DeLand Police Department and DeLand Fire Department, found the victim lying on the south side of the road. He was transported by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment.
The man is in stable condition and is expect4ed to recover from a gunshot wound to his right leg.
Police are pursuing leads and more information will be released once it becomes available.
