Passenger trapped in burning Porsche dies after car struck tree, flipped multiple times

A 20-year-old Oviedo man was trapped and killed while riding in a Porsche after the car overturned multiple times, crashed into a ditch, and struck a tree before catching fire.

The fatal accident took place near the intersection of Brumley Road and White Tail Trail at around 10:24 p.m. on Tuesday, May 16, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

A 20-year-old Winter Springs man was driving a 2017 Porsche Boxster westbound on Brumley Road, approaching White Tail Trail. The driver failed to negotiate a curve and the vehicle traveled off the roadway, continuing onto the south shoulder before running off the left side of the roadway.

The vehicle then traveled into a ditch and struck a tree, causing it to overturn multiple times.

The driver was able to exit the vehicle before it became engulfed in flames. The passenger was entrapped inside the vehicle and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver was transported to Oviedo Medical Center with serious injuries.

Florida Highway Patrol officials say the crash remains under investigation.
