Luther Harold Keffer, passed away on May 15, 2023, in Orlando, FL, at the age of 78. He was born on April 21, 1945, in Ridgeview, West Virginia. Bud served in the United States Army as Tank Commander with three tours of ground fighting in Vietnam, taught survival skills, and received a Purple Heart. After Vietnam, he served as the Personnel Noncommissioned Officer for Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 4th Transportation Battalion where he received The Army Commendation Medal. Bud retired after of 20 years of service and later worked at the Osceola County School System and the United States Post Office.
Bud was a dedicated family man that devoted his time to helping others. He assisted in church services and church council at Trinity Lutheran Church. He devoted much of his retired life to helping elder family members and friends. Bud enjoyed assisting his uncle on the dairy farm after serving in the army. He was also a huge sports fan and especially loved University of Kentucky basketball, Tampa Rays baseball, and Florida State University football. Bud always had a soft spot in his heart for his dogs.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy; son, Kenneth ( Jennifer Collins) Keffer; stepdaughter, Michele (Chris) Bermudez; granddaughters Emily Slayton, Allison Lay, Ariana DeBlasio (Moghabghab), Lana, Quinn, and Nina Bermudez, and one great granddaughter Brynnlee Slayton; sisters, Judy Lutsy & Kathy Treadway; sister-in-law Dale Nichols (Greg); nephews Matthew (Marcia) Nichols, and Dennis (Rachel) Nichols; cousins Debi (Charlie) Sutton, Jayme Cunningham, Billy Keffer, Anna (Sissy) Widder, and Henry (Boob) Lanham Jr. Special friends: Dick Cosmas, Pastor Rob Cosmas, Pastor Pete Zieg, Pastor Roger Prehn, Marion (Charlie) Gray.
He is preceded in death by parents Luther K Keffer and mother Helen Turley; stepson Jamie Moghabghab; Half-brother, Howard Davis; half-sister Sheila Michael; Aunt Wanda & Uncle Henry Lanham Sr.
The funeral service for Bud will be held at Reformation Lutheran Church, located at 800 E. Michigan Ave., Orlando, FL 32806, on Sunday, June 11, 2023, at 2pm.
