City of Orlando officials are asking the public to share photos of Lake Lawsona, Fern Creek, and Thornton Park for a new historic calendar.
The Orlando Historic Preservation Board is seeking photos of Orlando’s Lake Lawsona Historic District for its 2024 Historic Preservation Board Calendar and photography competition.
Subject matter of the photos must be of structures that are at least 50 years old and located in the Lake Lawsona Historic District, which encompasses the neighborhoods of Lawsona/Fern Creek and Thornton Park. Developed between 1911 and the 1950s, the district contains approximately 500 buildings and was established as a local historic district in 1994.
Submissions may be of individual details from the exterior or interior of buildings, or an entire structure. Up to three photographs may be submitted per photographer, and all photographs must be black and white.
Produced since 1991, the calendar is billed as a depiction of “Orlando’s treasured historic resources.” A $100 honorarium will be awarded to each photographer whose picture is selected for the calendar.
All contest submissions must be entered or postmarked by Monday, July 10, at 5 p.m.
