Cruise ship hidden camera recorded 150 people changing, including minors, FBI says

A Kissimmee cyber security officer was arrested after Federal Bureau of Investigation agents found evidence that he allegedly recorded over 150 individuals, including 40 minors, while they were using a cruise ship bathroom.

Jeremy Froias was arrested on multiple counts of video voyeurism and attempted possession of child exploitation material earlier this month. Froias is accused of planting a wireless camera in a public bathroom on the aft of the Harmony of the Seas cruise ship between April 29 and May 1, 2023.

According to an affidavit filed by the FBI, on April 30, Froias installed a hidden Wi-Fi camera on the top deck of the ship, between the “Flow Rider” surfing simulator and the bar.

The FBI alleges that Froias hid the camera in a section of the wall above the door that had been previously removed for repairs.

On May 1, a passenger noticed the hidden camera and reported it to the crew of the ship. Security personnel then searched the bathroom and found and seized the hidden camera. According to the affidavit, the only portion of the hidden camera that was visible was the lens itself.

Upon removing the camera, security personnel noticed it had a Micro SD card. The card was reviewed and on it, staff found several hours worth of video files.

The first video depicted Froias hiding the camera and adjusting the angle to focus on the area of the toilet. Froias is then seen taking his Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max out of his pocket and connecting the phone to the hidden camera through Wi-Fi.

Through their review of the videos on the camera, authorities found recordings of more than 150 individuals, including at least 40 minors. In the videos, individuals are seen coming into the bathroom to either use the toilet or to change into or out of swimsuits. The camera recorded these individuals in various stages of undressing and the videos showed naked genitals, buttocks, and female breasts.

According to the affidavit, some of the minors depicted in the videos were as young as four or five years old.

After security personnel reviewed the footage, they interviewed Froias about the hidden camera. Froias admitted to placing the hidden camera in the bathroom and told security that he knew the camera had been found and taken after going to retrieve it earlier that evening.

The FBI reviewed the footage on May 3 and Froias was arrested a short time thereafter.

Because of the nature of the crime, the FBI is seeking to identify potential victims of Froias. Anyone who may have used the public bathroom on the Harmony’s top deck between April 30 and May 1 is asked to contact the FBI through their Harmony of the Seas Hidden Camera Investigation.
