Small plane lands on Colonial Drive

An emergency prompted a small plane to land on Colonial Drive this morning.

The incident took place this morning before 9:30 a.m., according to a statement issued by the Orange County Fire Rescue.

The private plane was forced to emergency land on the median of East Colonial Drive and Taylor Creek.

As of 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 23, the plane was blocking traffic.

No information was provided by authorities as to why the plane was forced to land, and no injuries were reported as a result of the incident.

The OCFR says it has notified the Federal Aviation Administration about the incident.

Last August, a pilot performed a crash landing near the University of Central Florida after his vessel ran out of fuel.
