Orlando named top city for meetings and events in U.S.

Orlando was named the best city for meetings and events in the United States, following a month of additional accolades for the city.

On Tuesday, Cvent announced its Top Meeting Destinations and Top Meeting Hotels Worldwide for 2023, with the City Beautiful leading the way.

Known for its cloud-based event management solutions, Cvent evaluated over 12,500 cities worldwide. The list, which is the first for the network since before the pandemic, was compiled based on sourcing activity through the Cvent Supplier Network, which features more than 300,000 hotels, resorts, and special event venues. According to the company, it serves as the “world’s largest and most accurate database of detailed venue information.”

Orlando ranked just above Nashville, Tennesee for the top spot on the lists top meeting destinations in North America. Results were broken out regionally by continent, as well as categorically by destination and hotel. Rounding out the top ten in the destinations category were San Diego, Las Vegas, Chicago, Atlanta, Dallas, Austin, Phoenix, and Denver.

“These Top Lists highlight hotels, venues and destinations that have embraced technology to engage planners, enhance their sales and marketing efforts, and deliver incredible results. After four long years, we’re excited to share these insights once again and provide a resource that is used by event organizers to find great hotels and destinations and by hospitality professionals looking to set themselves apart to increase their group business revenue,” said Stacey Fontenot, senior vice president of marketing at Cvent.

In addition to Orlando, multiple cities across the Sunshine State made the list as well, including Miami (#12), Fort Lauderdale (#19), Kissimmee (#22), Tampa (#24), Aventura (#43), Boca Raton (#47), and Naples (#50).

To compile the list, Cvent tracked activity between January 2022 and December 2022. Rankings were determined by a set of qualifying criteria that included total number of room nights booked, as well as awarded value for meetings booked through request-for-proposals, among other criteria.

The ranking follows a month of similar accolades bestowed on the City Beautiful. Earlier this month, Orlando was ranked as the best city for remote work, as well as the best large city in which to start a business. The month kicked off with multiple Orlando-area restaurants receiving recognition through the MICHELIN Guide as well.
