Michael Andrew Mallinder, 59, passed away at home on Tuesday, May 23, 2023. Michael was born on October 16, 1963 in Syracuse, New York to William and Patricia (Korecki) Mallinder. Michael was preceded in death by his father, William. Michael is survived by the love of his life, Michele Mecca; his mother, Patricia; his aunt, Gloria Korecki; his brother and sister-in-law, William and Laura; and his nephews, Nathan, Tyler, Andrew and Bradley.
Michael had an exceptional mathematical mind, achieving a perfect score of 800 on the math section of the SAT. In 1985, Michael received a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from The State University of New York at Potsdam. Michael’s mathematical skills served him well as a computer programmer and as a small business owner.
In addition to all things math and science, Michael loved animals, baseball, gardening and cooking. In lieu of flowers and a funeral, Michael prefers you support your local animal shelter, local baseball club, local gardens and local food banks.
A Message to Family and Friends from Michele
As I cared for Michael in our home, we drew strength from the acts of kindness of our family and friends. Michael often reflected on the outpouring of support. So many of you sacrificed your time to help us with errands, large and small. You bolstered our spirits with your prayers, cards, letters, text messages and calls. We thank you.
As my thirty years with Michael comes to a close, know that he was my greatest champion, my constant rock and my best friend. He loved me when I was not loveable, supported me through my darkest days, celebrated my triumphs and at the end, strived to prepare me for his absence. I am forever grateful for his abiding love.
