One of the largest fast food restaurants in the world has selected Orlando as one of only three cities to feature a vegan version of one of its staple dishes.
This week, Taco Bell announced the unveiling of its “first fully vegan entree” in the Vegan Crunchwrap. The new entree is available in three “cities with notable vegan populations”: Los Angeles, New York, and Orlando.
Available for a limited time, the Vegan Crunchwrap is available for purchase at the Taco Bell located at 11893 East Colonial Drive in east Orlando, near the University of Central Florida.
The entree features vegan seasoned beef, a proprietary, plant-based protein that the company has been working on for years. The vegan beef alternative is topped with “cool vegan blanco sauce” and “warm vegan nacho sauce,” which have also been in development by the company for years.
“Such a large part of our fandom is vegan and vegetarian, and we’re as committed to them as they are to us and our menu,” said Taco Bell Global Chief Food Innovation Officer Liz Matthews. “That’s why we took so long, months and years, to release something this special; we wanted and needed to get it exactly right, to get it mouth-watering. Because let’s admit it, we’ve all eaten plenty of products on today’s market that don’t taste great and certainly aren’t craveable.”
In addition to the aforementioned vegan ingredients, the new Crunchwrap is filled with lettuce, diced tomatoes, and a crunchy tostada shell. All ingredients are certified vegan by the American Vegetarian Association.
According to Taco Bell, the restaurant’s vegetarian options made up over 23% of products sold in 2022.
The Vegan Crunchwrap is available for a limited time only.
