A 51-year-old man from Sanford was killed and two other individuals were seriously injured after their vehicles were involved in a crash along State Road 429.
The fatal accident took place on Saturday, June 10, at around 3:41 a.m., according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.
A 41-year-old woman from West Palm Beach was driving a 2017 Kia Sportage northbound on State Road 429 on the inside lane, approaching mile marker 51. The driver lost control of the vehicle and entered the center median. The driver overcorrected and, as a result, the vehicle came into the direct path of a 2019 Kia Optima being driven by the Sanford man.
As a result, the front of the Optima collided with the right side of the Sportage, causing the Sportage to rotate and travel across all northbound lanes onto the outside shoulder before crashing into a concrete barrier wall.
The driver of the Optima and her passenger, a 41-year-old man from West Palm Beach, were transported to HCA Lake Monroe Hospital with serious injuries.
The Sanford man was transported to the same hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
