Dante Anthony Marchitelli went home to be with his Lord and Saviour on Thursday, June 8, 2023 after a tenacious, five-month-long battle recovering from an extensive surgery.
Dante was born in Somerville MA, on April 17, 1952, to the late Dante and Joy Marchitelli. He graduated from Woburn High School in 1970. He loved to travel and had the most incredible stories of the places he had been and all the little things he noticed along the way.
He is survived by his three children and their spouses, Dante and Lana Marchitelli, Tina and John Mack, Faith and Josh Wells; his six grandchildren, Olivia, Allison, Tyler, Nadia, Caleb, and Dylan; his brother Stephen Marchitelli, his sister and her spouse, Marie Marchitelli and Audrey Metcalf; his nephews, extended family, and many wonderful friends.
Dante loved his family more than anything else in this world. Family was everything. He loved watching his grandchildren grow and their excitement and wonder every time they would do something for the first time or learn something new. He always wanted to help in any way he could and never turned down an opportunity to spend time with family. He loved his siblings dearly and was so proud of his nephews. Pops was so grateful for his friends and had the greatest stories to share. Quite often his regular daily happenings turned into hilarious life events when the stories were later shared.
He had such a big presence, always found humor in life and made everyone laugh no matter where he was. People naturally gravitated towards Pops and found themselves engrossed in his stories, in stitches with his humor and touched by his big heart. All of those emotions were just a typical day in the life of Pops! He was one-of-a-kind and everyone somehow felt better off having known him.
One of Dante’s favorite programs through his church, Journey Christian Church, that he loved being a part of was Food For Life. He was so heartbroken at the idea of someone not having enough food, especially children, and just wanted to help. At Christmastime he always made sure there were toys for the kids.
There was an intimate gathering for immediate family members. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Journey Christian Church for the Food For Life program. Checks may be written to Journey Christian Church, and mailed to 1965 South Orange Blossom Trail, Apopka, FL. 32703. In the memo please write, “Food For Life-Dante ‘Pops’ Marchitelli,” or on their website at journeychristian.com. Under the give option, select “tithes and offerings-Apopka,“ and put ‘Pops Marchitelli’ in the ‘name’ field. So much love to you all.
