Orlando has the top 4 most-visited water parks in the world

Four Orlando water parks were the most-visited locations across the world during the past year.

Last week, Themed Entertainment Association released its 2022 Global Attractions Attendance Report, which studies attendance for the themed entertainment and museum industries across the world.

According to the report, Typhoon Lagoon Water Park at Walt Disney World ranked as the top-visited water park for 2022 with over 1,915,000 visitors. The park just edged out Blizzard Beach, which is also located at Disney World.

The third and fourth spots on the list were claimed by two other Orlando water parks located. According to the report, Universal Studios Orlando generated 1,850,000 visitors to its water park, Volcano Bay, and SeaWorld saw 1,548,000 visitors to its water park, Aquatica.

The only other water park in Florida to make the top list was Adventure Island, which is located at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay. That park ranked seventh, with 636,000 visitors in 2022.

All the other parks to rank in the top 20 are located across the United States, with many based in the state of Texas.

Orlando water parks saw just under 5.5 million visitors during 2022, which is nearly twice the next closest state. Six water parks in Texas generated approximately 3.2 million visits, according to the report.

The report, which is the seventeenth annual Theme Index and Museum Index collaboration between Themed Entertainment Association and the Architecture, Engineering, Construction, Operations, and Management (AECOM) firm, ranked Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World as the most-visited theme park in the world. During 2022, Magic Kingdom drew in over 17,133,000 visitors, which was an increase of over 35% over 2021 (12,691,000).

In addition to Magic Kingdom, multiple Orlando-area parks ranked amongst the top 25 for attendance, including Animal Kingdom (6th), EPCOT (7th), Hollywood Studios (9th), Universal Studios Orlando (11th), and Islands of Adventure (12th).

During 2022, Orlando theme parks generated approximately 68.8 million visits, or nearly twice that of the next closest region (Japan – 38.7 million).
