Michael Richard Dhaniram Ramdass

Michael Richard Dhaniram Ramdass passed away peacefully on June 18th, 2023, at the Avante Nursing Home, St Cloud, Florida. Michael was born on February 14th, 1931, in the village of Zorg, Essequibo Coast, Guyana to Itwaru (Phillip) and Rookmin (Irene) Ramdass. He was the eldest of nine children.

He was the husband of Coontie Sarojanie Ramdass (late), father of Dennis, Genevieve, (Gen) Rita (Suzzie) (late) and Michael (Rabbie). Father -in – law of Shivdatt Singh, Moses Arjun and Kay Ramnarain. Grandfather of Camille Robles, Richard Singh, Ariana Arjun and Albert Arjun, Great-Grandfather of Anuel and Ayden Robles. Grandfather in law of Jose Robles.
He was the brother of Harry, Cecil (late), Samuel (late), Harold (late) and Charles, Enid, Naomi and Amy.

Michael grew up on the Essequibo Coast in Guyana. After high school, he became a teacher. He graduated from The Teachers Training College and the Mon Repos School of Agriculture. He continued on in the teaching profession and taught at Fisher Primary School, then he became the Headmaster of Abram’s Creek Primary School and Riverstown Primary School. He loved teaching and was dedicated to his profession.

Michael emigrated to the United States with his family in1983 with the help his brother Samuel and his sister Enid. In 1984 he settled in Huron Street, Brooklyn, New York with his family. He worked as a security guard for various companies and a receiving clerk for Conway’s department store in Manhattan. In 1987, he moved with his family to their new house in Ozone Park, Queens, New York where he lived there until 2012.

In 1996, he retired and spent his golden years doing the things he loved, visiting friends and family, reading, going to Church and taking part in church activities. He adored his grandchildren and enjoyed buying books and toys for them. He also took them to school, helped with homework and babysat them while we were at work. Another favorite thing he love to do was sending cards out to family and friends at birthdays, Christmas, and other special occasions. He would pick out best card after spending a lot of time reading various cards to find those special words, he wanted to say to someone.
He also loved travelling to his home country Guyana to visit his friends and relatives.

In 2012, while on vacation in Florida he became very ill and was hospitalized. He became incapacitated and was then admitted to the Avante Nursing Home in St Cloud, where he spent the remainder of his life.
Michael was a loving father and grandfather. He was a simple man, very humble and compassionate,

Michael leaves behind his loving children, Dennis, Genevieve, Rabbie, grandchildren Camille, Richard, Ariana and Albert, great- grandchildren Anuel and Ayden, sons- in- law, Shivdatt and Moses, daughter-in-law Kay He also leaves behind his dear brothers Harry and Charles, his dear sisters Enid, Naomi and Amy, and an abundance of nieces, nephews and family and friends.

The family will receive friends on Thursday June 22, 2023 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a prayer service.

The funeral service will be conducted on Friday June 23, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. all at Fisk Funeral Home and Crematory, 1107 Massachusetts Avenue, St. Cloud,. FL 34769
