Christos Nicholas Christakos, of Orlando, Florida, passed away June 23, 2023 at the age of 83. He was born in Sparta,Greece on December 10, 1939. Chris graduated from high school.
He was married to Helen Christakos on August 8, 1969. Chris went from growing up in poverty to owning one of the most awarded restaurants in the United States. He opened over 19 hotels and restaurants, including the Italian pavilion at Epcot, before opening the award-winning Christinis Ristorante Italiano. Chis was inducted into the Hall of Fame for Restauranteurs Nationally, Internationally and was named Restauranteur of the Year for the state of Florida.
He had a passion for music and taught himself to play the piano, guitar, and bouzouki. He loved to travel, cruise, and explore the world. He was also an avid golfer who was taught to play by Arnold Palmer. He loved gardening, being on his boat, spending time with family, fishing, and of course, cooking.
He was survived by his beloved wife Helen Christakos; his daughters Caterina Christakos, Elli Zaverdas and his late daughter Angela Christakos.His grandchildren Karalina Zaverdas, Evangeline Greco, Charlese Greco and Ashley Greco sister Connie Manos.
A service will be held on June 28, at 10 a.m., at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church of Greater Orlando. Located at 1217 Trinity Woods Ln in Maitland.
