Mede was born in Las Piedras, Puerto Rico. Her family later moved to San Lorenzo, PR where she met and married her childhood sweetheart, Modesto Gonzalez Machin on August 4, 1962.
After graduating from the University of Puerto Rico, she taught elementary school in her hometown. She loved animals, gardening, music and dancing. She enjoyed being Abuela to her grandchildren as well as surrogate Abuela to countless other children.
She is survived by her 2 daughters, Annette Lopez (husband Eliuth) and Magali Gonzalez-Luna (husband Teodoro Luna) and her 4 grandchildren: Matthew Lopez, Ricardo Luna, Marisa Lopez and Raquel Luna.
A Gathering of Family & Friends will be held on Thursday, June 29, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home. Located at 1413 South Semoran Boulevard in Orlando.
