Helen Barber Wheeley

Helen B. Wheeley, age 96, of Orlando, FL, formerly of Haines City, FL, passed away on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at her home in Orlando.

She was born on May 8, 1927 in West DePere, WI, daughter to her late parents, Melville W. and Mabel Mary (Reimer) Barber.

Helen was a lover of music, collecting glass, and a woman of strong faith. She moved to Haines City when she was 18, where she met her future husband, Oliver Philip. They were married on August 19, 1950.

Helen is survived by her son, Joseph Wheeley, Sr. and his wife, Laura, of Orlando; her daughter, Rebecca Wheeley Rasberry of Kosciusko, MS; four grandchildren, Lee Walden, Garrett Walden, Kristin Wheeley, and Joey Wheeley, Jr.; five great-grandchildren, Joshua Rosado, Jack Walden, Olivia Walden, Rylee Chute, and Oliver Wheeley; and her nephew, Bruce Law.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Oliver Philip Wheeley; and all six of her siblings, brother, Mel Barber, sister, Bernice Matthews, brother, Robert R. Barber, sister, Shirley Law, brother, Jim Barber, and sister, Cynthia Repass.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, July 13, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Newcomer Funeral Home – East Orlando Chapel, 895 S. Goldenrod Road, in Orlando.

Visitation will precede the service on Thursday, July 1,3 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

Interment will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery, Haines City, FL.
