Denise Frey Vontobel

Denise Frey Vontobel was born on August 30th, 1951, in Washington Township, NJ to the late Elizabeth and Walter Frey, the oldest of 3 children. Denise was 71 years young at the time of her passing, on July 7th, 2023, in Orlando, FL.

Raised in Washington Township, NJ, Denise graduated from Westwood High School. She went on to study Bachelor of Arts at Fairleigh Dickinson University where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree. Denise enjoyed her successful career with GE Medical Systems as an International Marketing Manager.
Denise was the primary caregiver to her mother for 15 years until her mother passing in January 2022. Even though Denise loved all her family tremendously, she held a special place in her heart for her 5-year-old grandson Eros (Vontobel). She received joy from experiencing life through his eyes and valued their time together.

Gardening was a passion of Denise’s. Anyone who knew her knew she could grow anything. In July it’s out with tomatoes and in with pineapple, then out with pineapple and in with avocado! She was particularly proud of her PJM Rhododendron that bloomed so beautifully just 2 months before she took ill. As an avid gardener, if you couldn’t find Denise in the house tending to her home and family, she’d be in the garden lovingly caring for her plants. She loved being surrounded by the beauty, warmth, and peace of fresh flowers. So much so that she had various flowers blooming year-round in her homes in NY and FL blanketing our yard with glorious color no matter the season. They were just magnificent!

Denise is survived by her husband Craig Vontobel, daughter Sloane Vontobel and her grandson Eros who all reside in Orlando, FL. She also leaves her two brothers Douglas Frey, wife Debbie of Ellenville, NY, Matthew Frey, wife Ann Marie of Washington Township, NJ. As well as her three nieces Jennifer Frey, Noel and Caroline Frey.
