Manuela Barrios – Rosario

Manuela Barrios Rosario, age 89, of Winter Springs, Florida passed away on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 in the ORMC Hospital in Orlando. She was a longtime member of New Creation Community Church of Sanford, Florida and was known for her selfless heart and giving nature, actively supporting multiples charity groups throughout her life.

Nelly was born on July 3, 1934 in Aguadilla, PR; the daughter of the late Francisco Barrios and Josefa Rosario. She was the oldest of 12 children. On December 10, 1952, she married her husband, Ramon Almeyda Cortes. Through her testimony, her husband came to know the Lord. After 42 years of marriage her husband was called to be with the Lord. She never remarried.

Nelly was a homemaker, who raised her two children in New York and Puerto Rico. After her husband’s passing, she moved to Winter Springs, Florida in 1994 with her daughter were she finally settled until her passing. She enjoyed cooking and taking care of her grandchildren and great grandchildren; and most importantly spending time with her family and her church family. Her pilgrimage during all these years was one of sowing values, expressing love, affection, and tenderness with a great maternal touch.

Nelly is survived by her 2 children, Madeline Almeyda Barrios, wife of Josue Lopez, and Ramon Almeyda Barrios, 5 loving grandchildren, Juan Carlos and Ricardo Almeyda, and Josue, Arnaldo, and Xavier Lopez, 4 great-grand children: Eduardo, Emilio, Ariana and Jeremiah Lopez, 2 sisters Marta and Monserate Barrios, 7 brothers, Heriberto, Jose, Benjamin, Saul, Luis Angel, Rafael, and William Barrios, and 24 nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, July 17, 2023 at 11:00 am at Newcomer Funeral Home, South Seminole Chapel, 335 East State Road 434, Longwood, Florida 32750

Visitation with the family will precede the services on Monday, July 17 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
