Barbara Jean Jenkins

Barbara Jean Jenkins, beloved mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2023 in Altamonte Springs, FL.

Barbara was born March 15, 1947 in Dover, NJ to the late James Jenkins and Margaret Frazell Jenkins. She graduated from Bridgewater Raritan High School West in 1965. She then went on to earn her nursing degree and worked in pediatrics until the birth of her only child, Cheryl. She then worked in doctors offices so she could make the most of her time with her daughter. Barbara moved with her daughter to Altamonte Springs, FL in 1989 where she continued to work in the healthcare industry until she retired in 2007.

One of her greatest passions was being a Girl Scout Leader for over 35 years. Her commitment and love to all the girls who passed through her care was unmatched. Barb loved sharing new experiences with her girls, especially through travel. Her treasured Troop 1260, Sara, Elizabeth, Lucia and Emily, traveled to numerous states within the US, the Bahamas, England, France, Italy, Germany, Austria, and the Netherlands. She was the “cookie lady” to her service unit for years to allow her girls the opportunity to earn money for all their travels. The memories created with her girls were priceless.

Barb’s love of travel continued with trips to Australia, New Zealand, Alaska and her much loved Hawaii, where she could relax in the sun and surf under those beautiful blue skies. But her favorite travel was to see her family in PA and NJ. Her love for her family was profound with her huge hugs, kind heart, and beautiful smile that warmed every room.

Another favorite pastime throughout her life was crafting, especially crocheting. She made many baby blankets through the years that are put together with love and will be forever enjoyed.

Barbara is survived by her cherished daughter and best friend, Cheryl Jenkins; her dearest siblings, sister Charlene Daunton (Dave), brothers James Jenkins and Donald Jenkins (Theresa); much loved nephews Jason Daunton (Mary), Brian Jenkins (Jenn), Jimmy Jenkins (Tonya), Michael Jenkins (Kimberly) Matthew Jenkins (Katie), Patrick Jenkins (Corina); her favorite grand nieces and nephews, Riley, Bridget, Brock, Ellie, Marissa, Mikayla, Ronan, Aria, Harper, Ava, Owen and Wyatt; and many treasured loved ones.

She leaves a loving and lasting memory with all who knew her. Missed by many, loved by all.
