The family and friends of a father of three children who was killed on his motorcycle after leaving a local bike night have started a GoFundMe to help pay for funeral expenses.
Justin W. Evan, 37, was struck by a vehicle and killed while riding his motorcycle on Saturday, July 15. The driver of the vehicle, 61-year-old Christine Robison, has since been arrested and charged with driving under the influence and DUI manslaughter.
According to police, the fatal accident took place at Destination Orange City, near the intersection of N. Volusia Avenue and W. Minnesota Avenue.
Robison, who was driving a 2023 Lexus, pulled out of the parking lot of the establishment and into the northbound lane of traffic. She entered the direct path of Evans’ 2004 Suzuki.
Evans was ejected from his motorcycle as a result of the crash. Responding emergency crews transported Evans to AdventHealth Fish Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
Following the crash, Robison showed signs of possible impairment and, during their investigation, police determined that she had been driving under the influence.
“One of our own, Justin Evans, was taken out by a drunk driver at our bike night. We’re looking to help the family cover any funeral expenses,” reads a statement posted to a GoFundMe created for Evans.
Evans was the father of two daughters and a son.
“Justin died too soon doing what he loved. He will be loved and missed,” reads the post.
