Robert Gregory Sr.

Robert Kenneth Gregory, Sr. (Bob), 78, of Apopka, FL, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 10, 2023.

Bob was born August 25,1944 in Bethesda, MD to Kenneth and Ruth (Berger) Gregory. He is preceded in death by both of his parents, his sister, Jan and his son Robert K Gregory, Jr. Bob is survived by his loving wife and soulmate of 33 years, Shirl Gregory, daughters, Christine Ward and Christina Perfater and three grandchildren.

Bob grew up in Rockville, Maryland and graduated from Richard Montgomery High School in 1962.
His love for nature and education blossomed while in college at the University of Maryland. After graduation he went to work for the Maryland National Park and Planning Commission in Montgomery County, Maryland. Eventually making his way to Brookside Nature Center as their Nature Facility and Program Manager.

Bob spent his career dedicated to providing educational services, cultivating environmental awareness and stimulating natural resource appreciation to the citizens of Montgomery County. But most of all he loved working with the many children he encountered over the years and their faces in awe of new discoveries as a naturalist introduces them to hands-on experiences in the outdoors. Bob’s career at Brookside not only brought him so much joy professionally but also personally. He loved his staff and coworkers dearly and considered them family. It was through these relationships that he was introduced and fell in love with the Adirondack Mountains. For the next 20 years he spent his summers vacationing with his family at their camp in Inlet, NY. These were some of the happiest times of his life.

Bob spent his early retirement years in Littlestown, PA before relocating to Apopka, FL. Bob was a “Gentle Giant”, a kind soul who loved his family and his wife wholeheartedly. We will miss him greatly but rejoice in knowing we will see him again in Heaven with Jesus.
