Shirley Ann Silvasy, age 79, of Orlando, FL passed away on July 18, 2023. Shirley was born on December 16, 1943, in West Mifflin, PA and graduated from Homestead High School in 1961. She was a student at the University of Hawaii where she attained a BA in French. She met her husband, Raymond P Silvasy, at the Church Hill Country Club in Pittsburgh at a hospital fundraiser. They were married on May 29, 1977. Ray and Shirley lived in Pittsburgh until relocating to Virginia Beach, VA, in 1990. Shirley worked as a professor at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA, where she taught English to international students.
After retirement, Ray and Shirley relocated to Orlando, FL, in 2004 to be closer to their children in Orlando, Shirley was a member of the Tropical Fruit Club and Simple Living Institute. As a dedicated wife and loving mother, she treasured spending time with her family and was well known for her homemade birthday cakes. She greatly enjoyed being a mother and grandmother, a spouse, traveling, music, going to parks, and gardening.
Shirley was the daughter of the late William and Frances Jacobs. She is survived by her husband, Raymond P Silvasy, and her children: Laina (Kelly) Shockley, Tiare Silvasy, and Randy (Renee) Silvasy. She is the loving grandma of Braeden Larson, Remy and Philip Silvasy, Tess and Malcolm Shockley. She is also survived by her siblings Robert Jacobs, Elaine Exacustides, William John Jacobs II, and Donna Moore.
