A 62-year-old woman from Sanford was killed after her vehicle was involved ina head-on collision last week.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the fatal accident took place on Friday, July 21, at around 2:22 p.m.
The woman was driving a 2020 Mazda CX-5 westbound on Pioneer Trail, just east of Tomoka Farms Road in Volusia County.
For unknown reasons, the woman’s vehicle veered into the eastbound lane and into the direct path of a 2007 Sterling Truck being driven by a 67-year-old man from Melrose, Florida.
The two vehicles collided head-on.
The woman was pronounced deceased at the scene. The man was not injured in the accident.
The crash created a roadblock on the roadway for several hours before it was cleared later that evening.
