A tow truck driver was killed after he was ejected from his vehicle when it crashed into a water tanker truck in an Osceola county construction zone.
The fatal accident took place near the intersection of Poinciana Parkway and Marigold Avenue on Monday, July 24, at around 9:22 a.m.
According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, a tow truck hauling a 2018 Mercedes-Benz CLA was traveling northbound on Poinciana Parkway, approaching Marigold Avenue in the inside lane.
At the same time, a 65-year-old Winter Park man was driving a water tanker truck on the median of Poinciana Parkway, approaching the intersection with Marigold Avenue.
The truck was in an active construction zone, according to authorities.
The water tanker truck entered the inside lane of the roadway, in the direct path of the tow truck. As a result, the front of the two truck collided with the rear of the vehicle, causing the tow truck driver to be ejected from his vehicle.
The driver, a 24-year-old man from Cleveland, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Winter Park man was transported to Osceola Regional Medical Center with serious injuries, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
