Local firefighters were called to the scene of two separate garage fires in Orlando over the past several days.
During the first incident, Orange County Fire Rescue crews responded to the 4800 block of Berrywood on Thursday, July 27.
The fire, which started in the garage, was quickly knocked down and mitigated. It did not spread to other areas of the house, and no injuries were reported.
During a second incident, crews from the Orlando Fire Department responded to reports of a fire that broke out at a large, 2-story home on July 29.
Upon arrival, crews found smoke emanating from the garage. The fire was found towards the back of the garage, near a water heater.
Firefighters were able to contain that fire to the garage as well. No injuries were reported as a result of the blaze.
Fires can break out in garages for a variety of reasons due to the concentration of electronics, flammable liquids, and other items. Authorities recommend properly storing or removing flammable products from garages, and to always have a functioning heat alarm in the garage when possible.
