The DeLand Police Department is asking the public for help to locate a homeless man who is colloquially referred to as “Kenny G” for allegedly stalking his ex-wife.

On Monday, DPD released a statement indicating that the department is actively searching for Kenneth Michael Gonzalez on charges of domestic violence stalking and violation of pretrial release.

Gonzalez is currently listed as a transient in the DeLand area.

According to court records, in September 2022, Gonzalez’s ex-wife filed stalking charges with DeLand Police Department against him. On October 27, 2022, Gonzalez was placed on 12 months probation in that case. As a condition of his probation, Gonzalez was ordered to not have contact with his ex-wife.

In February, Gonzalez sent three unwanted text messages to the victim from a new phone number. In the messages, Gonzalez detailed that the couple had gone through a lot and asked his ex-wife to take him back. He indicated that he was apologetic for “trying to make her jealous by pretending to be cheating on her,” and that if she needed anything, she could call him.

A few hours later, after he did not receive a response, Gonzalez sent a message asking “are you okay” to his ex-wife.

When Gonzalez was contacted via telephone by law enforcement, he confirmed that he sent text messages to his ex-wife, but indicated that he was simply trying to get her to “take back her furniture” before he gave it away. He confirmed that he was not supposed to have contact with her as part of the terms of his probation.
