Sanford Police Department detectives are currently investigating the suspicious death of a woman who was found with a zip-tie around her neck inside her home.
On July 17, law enforcement authorities responded to the 3000 block of Saltmarsh Loop after a 911 caller reported finding a dead body.
Upon arrival, authorities found the body of Joysee Cartagena inside her home with a large zip-tie around her neck.
Authorities attempted life-saving measures, but were unsuccessful.
Cartagena was pronounced deceased at the home.
A medical examiner conducted an autopsy and, according to authorities, the incident is being investigated as a suspicious death or homicide.
