Law enforcement authorities were able to use tips from the public to identify and locate two individuals wanted for breaking into a storage facility on Colonial Drive and stole dozens of firearms.
On Friday, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrests of 36-year-old Jonathan Tackett and 29-year-old Raven Shaffer in connection with the theft of firearms from a storage unit on May 6.
Detectives say that they were able to identify the individuals “thanks to some very good tips that came in after” a video was posted showing the men entering the storage facility on East Colonial Drive.
After the incident, the sheriff’s office provided video of the suspects arriving at the facility and breaking open the door.
In the video, the men are seen making their way to a specific storage unit and looting it. Moments later, they are seen exiting the facility with multiple pieces of luggage.
Police say the pieces of luggage were filled with firearms.
“Thank you for sharing that video and helping us get these two criminals off the street,” reads a statement from OCSO.
Tackett and Shaffer both face charges of second degree grand theft, grand theft of a firearm, armed burglary of structure, and criminal mischief.
